About Chiropractic
Chiropractors are physicians who focus on treating problems by getting rid of the cause of the problem, not just treating the symptom. A comprehensive health history and exam is performed to identify what things are contributing to the problem. Treatment is without drugs or surgery, and involves hands on therapy, external modalities, lifestyle changes, exercise guidance, and nutritional support, among other things.
What conditions do chiropractors treat?
Doctors of chiropractic care for patients of all ages and a wide range of conditions. DC’s are especially known for treatment of back and neck pain, along with neuromusculoskeletal conditions throughout the whole body (shoulder, elbows, hands, hips, knees, ankles/feet, sciatica, neuropathy…). DC’s also counsel people on diet, nutrition, exercise, healthy lifestyle, and modification of occupational and lifestyle habits.
Is chiropractic treatment safe?
Chiropractic care is extremely safe and often provides immediate relief. When compared to other forms of treatment for common problems such as NSAID’s and other over-the-counter pain killers, there are typically no side effects with chiropractic care, with occasional soreness for less than 24 hours. People who regularly take NSAID’s and prescription pain killers are likely to form gastrointestinal diseases such as ulcers and bleeding. This risk increases as we get older. In the past, a form of stroke had been thought to be possibly caused by neck manipulation, however, this has proven not to be true. http://www.acatoday.org/Patients-Why-Choose-Chiropractic-Chiropractic-A-Safe-Treatment-Option
